It is wonderful that we still have a free press where there is a forum for each individual to make comments about what's on their mind. Napa Recycling and Waste Services lengthy reply to my recent letter  is interesting ("Napa needs better notice on late waste pickups," Dec. 28).

At holiday time we are thinking of the activities that are appropriate for that time, not what service suppliers are doing. Holidays are always shifting due to the nature of our calendar, Also, the service does not always change from the standard day every year.

We are not constantly Twittering, Facebooking, checking a website, etc. And, what is The City of Napa, News Weekly e-mail? It has never arrived at our computer. Whether the bill is sent via United States Postal Service or electronically the bill should note when the regular waste collection schedule will be altered.

As to just letting the waste cans sit out for an extra day: they are not things of beauty sitting at the curb. They also take up parking slots on streets that have limited parking spaces.

Large companies and governments usually ignore comments from the citizenry. They give reams of reasons of why they can't do something rather than saying that's a good idea. Thanks for the input. Let's do it.

Unfortunately the world is not "Of The People, By The People, For The People. So, "The People" are just left "Blowing In The Wind."
