It is very disappointing to read in the Napa Valley Register that Vallerga's Market will be closing on March 31. We thought they would stay open until their lease was up later this year.
The store absolutely has the best produce east of Highway 29. The deli has a wide range of processed meats that are from national and international sources. Their sandwiches were good and a staple in many customers’ diets. The cheese area was well stocked with a fairly wide variety of foreign and domestic brands. Also, a number of long-term employees have become friends.
A number of years ago, we moved to Napa from Aptos, where Deluxe Market was our friendly, well-stocked local market. We soon found Vallerga's to be similar to Deluxe and that has served us well over the ensuing years. We'll miss Vallerga's and will try looking for another independent market in the Napa Valley. This will probably be a challenge. Hopefully, we will see some former Vallerga's employees as we shop around Napa.
