The Napa Valley College men’s golf team has started its season and is playing in Big 8 Conference tournaments.

On Feb. 19, in Big 8 Conference tournament No. 2 at Stockton Country Club, the Storm shot a 411 total and finished in fifth place. Santa Rosa won with a 371 and was followed by Sierra (385), Folsom Lake (390), Modesto (400), American River (425) and San Joaquin Delta (425).

Folsom Lake’s Joel Slak was the medalist, shooting a 2-under-par 69 on the 6,480-yard course. The Storm was led by Carlos Mena with a 78. Tom Regan (79), Michael Price (84), Dan Donahue (85), Jake Pauli (85) and James Paulley (97) also played.

On March 5, at Teal Bend Golf Course in Sacramento, Folsom Lake won the third tournament, shooting 372. Folsom Lake was followed by Santa Rosa (381), Sierra (396), Delta (402), Modesto (403), American River (410), and Napa Valley (429).

Slak was the medalist, shooting a 2-under 70 on the 6,589-yard course. Regan led Napa Valley with an 82 and was followed by Donahue (83), Price (85), Mena (87), Paulley (92) and Joe Klingbeil (97).

Last Thursday in Big 8 Conference tournament No. 4, Santa Rosa won with a 367 total at Diablo Grande in Patterson. Folsom Lake was second at 377 and was followed by Sierra (388), Delta (401), American River (405), Modesto (406) and Napa Valley (408).

Travis Evans of Santa Rosa was the medalist, shooting a 1-under 71 on the 6,680-yard course.

Napa Valley was led by Mena with a 76. Regan (78), Price (81), Donahue (85), Pauli (88) and Paulley (100) also played for the Storm.
