Newman makes his home in Hangzhou, a city in the Zhejiang Province, located in east China.

Newman placed second in the men’s 30-34 division at the Great Wall Marathon in 2017.

Jacob Aaron, a freshman at Vintage High, tied for seventh place in a field of 58 players in the championship flight of the Junior Tour of Northern California’s Spring Series II Championship at Coyote Creek Golf Club in San Jose Saturday and Sunday.

Aaron, 14, had rounds of 77 and 71 for a 4-over-par 148 total.

Paramdeep Sodhi of Folsom was the medalist. Sodhi shot 73-69 – 142.

The Arizona Diamondbacks assigned Napa’s Kris Negron, a utility player and a non-roster invitee for spring training, to minor league camp, according to MLB.com.

Negron has a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks

Sierra Canyon-Chatsworth, which went 27-4 and won the CIF Open Division state title at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, was named as the 2018 Cal-Hi Sports Boys Basketball State Team of the Year.

Sierra Canyon won its second state championship, beating Sheldon-Sacramento, 75-62.

Windward-Los Angeles, which went 27-3 and won the CIF Open Division state title at the Golden 1 Center, was named as the 2018 Cal-Hi Sports Girls Basketball State Team of the Year.

Windward won its third state championship by defeating Pinewood-Los Altos Hills, 58-47.

CIF Sac-Joaquin Section and North Coast Section schools are listed in the Cal-Hi Sports State Top 20 baseball rankings, which were released on Sunday.

Foothill-Pleasanton (7-0) is No. 3, Elk Grove (2-0-2) is No. 4, Rocklin (5-0) is No. 15, and Acalanes-Lafayette (8-1) is No. 20.

De La Salle-Concord (5-3), Franklin-Elk Grove (6-1), San Ramon Valley-Danville (4-0), and St. Mary’s-Stockton (1-2-1) are among the teams on the bubble.
