Connor Chesky, a redshirt freshman from St. Helena, led the Kansas State men’s golf team by finishing in a tie for 29th place at the K-State BIGHORN Invitational. It was played at the BIGHORN Golf Club’s Canyons Course, a par-72, 7,000-yard layout, in Palm Desert last week.

Chesky, playing in the event as an individual, had rounds of 77, 71 and 69. It was his first event of the year for the Wildcats.

Illinois won the team title. Kansas State was 10th.

Chesky is a transfer from South Carolina. He redshirted last year at South Carolina and received a one-time transfer exemption to be immediately eligible, Kansas State announced on its website.

He was a nationally ranked junior player.

Chesky had an extensive junior background, playing in American Junior Golf Association, U.S. Golf Association, Future Collegians World Tour, Junior Tour of Northern California, and PGA Junior Series events around the country.

Chesky took courses with the Laurel Springs Academy, a private, online school based in Ojai, California.
