The Napa Stormers hosted South Bay rival Bellarmine of San Jose in the second friendly of their high school rugby season Feb. 3 and pulled out a hard-fought 33-24 win at Napa Valley College.

Napa dominated the scrum for the entire game and both offensively and defensively for the first half of the match, with Bellarmine making a strong run the second half.

Backs game captain Michael Blatteis sealed the win with a try in the last few minutes of the match.

The Stormers will host the Hayward Griffins in their league opener at 11 a.m. Saturday at NVC.

St. Helena 56, Willits 42

The Saints took care of business at home Friday, dispatching the visiting Wolverines behind strong performances from Jake Mendes (15 points, five rebounds, four steals), Caleb Granados (11 points, three rebounds), George Cutting (10 points, seven rebounds, one assist) and Ryland Campos (eight points, eight rebounds).

St. Helena is back in action Tuesday with a road tilt at Kelseyville at 5:30 p.m.
