Judy Morris of Pope Valley captured the third-place and the first-place Super-Select titles in performance halter mares at the 2012 Adequan Select American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show in Amarillo, Texas, on Aug. 25.

Morris showed her American Quarter Horse, AGR Emmy Invitation. The 2004 gray mare was sired by The Invitation and out of Miss Boston Blue, and was bred by Michael and Judy Ovitz of Ojai, Calif.

In the performance halter mares class, 18 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $3,600. Morris and AGR Emmy Invitation received a prize package that included a custom-designed bronze trophy, a specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket and a medallion.

Launched this year, AQHA is recognizing the top three Super-Select competitors in every class at the Select World Show. Super-Select is a new recognition for exhibitors age 70 and over. Exhibitors winning the Super-Select division receive a plaque and the achievement will appear on the official records of the horse and exhibitor.

AQHA is celebrating the 10th year of the Adequan Select World. Adequan Select World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors, ages 50 and over, around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines.

The 1,273 entries at this year’s event, representing competitors from 40 of the United States, Argentina, Canada and Sweden, competed for 43 world championships Aug. 24-Sept. 1 at Amarillo’s Tri-State Fairgrounds.

Other show sponsors include Bank of America, B&W Trailer Hitches, Farnam, John Deere, Markel, Merial, Montana Silversmiths, Nutrena, RFD-TV, SmartPak and WeatherBeeta. The event sponsors are Cripple Creek, The American Quarter Horse Journal, Coors, Cavendar’s Boot City, Kiser Arena Specialists and Pendleton Whisky.
