Spiritleaders’ Showcase Napa Valley March 16

The Napa High School Spiritleaders invite the community to watch their award-winning competition routines at “Showcase Napa Valley” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16 in the Napa Valley Unified School District auditorium.

The entire NHS Dance Department and guest performers from Image Dance Studio will also perform.

There will also be a sneak peek of the NHS Dance Department’s Spring Production of “Then and Now,” scheduled May 4-6.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children age 5 and younger.

Raiderette auditions April 7; registration deadline March 30

The Oakland Raiders are searching for enthusiastic and talented candidates for their renowned public relations and entertainment team – the Raiderettes.

Candidates must pre-register by 5 p.m. Friday, March 30 to participate in the auditions, which will take place April 7 at the Raiders’ Alameda facility.

Silverado Resort and Spa’s Golf Demo Days April 14-15

Silverado Resort and Spa’s Golf Demo Days are April 14 and 15.

Participants will be able to hit, for free, the latest golf equipment from top brands, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., each day on Silverado’s driving range.

It’s open to the public.

There will be equipment to test from TaylorMade, Titleist, PXG and Scotty Cameron on April 14, and Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, Nakashima and U.S. Kids Golf on April 15.

Shannon Lemieux Aquatics Day April 14

The 14th annual Shannon Nicole Lemieux Memorial Aquatics Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at the Vintage High Aquatics Center.

“The Shannon” is a fundraiser, mainly for high school aquatics athletes from American Canyon, Calistoga, Justin Siena, Napa, St. Helena and Vintage who have been invited to compete against each other for fun. There will be a synchronized swimming performance, water polo and diving exhibitions, a cannonball contest, and fun coed swimming relays such as the hilarious costume, T-shirt and “floatie” relays.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids age 12 and younger. There will be a silent auction and a snack shack with lunch items.

All proceeds benefit the Shannon Lemieux Memorial Scholarship Fund, which to date has awarded $104,000 in scholarships to deserving graduates from all participating schools.

St. Helena Hall of Fame nomination deadline April 15

The nomination window is officially open for the St. Helena High School Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2018. Deadline for nominations is April 15.

Individuals can be nominated in three categories: athlete, coach and special category. To be eligible as an athlete, he or she must have graduated from SHHS at least 15 years ago (2003 or earlier) and have participated in at least one interscholastic sport as an undergraduate. To be eligible as a coach, he or she must have coached at least one interscholastic athlete team at SHHS and been employed or contributed services as a coach for at least five years. To be eligible in the special category, he or she must have participated in an activity that brought honor or positive recognition, or contributed in some substantial way to the SHHS athletic department. Additionally, all nominees must have lived an adult life that did not discredit the school or the community.

It is the responsibility of the nominator to provide the correct name, current address, telephone number and graduating class of nominee. If deceased, the next of kin, with address and telephone number. The nominator must also provide accurate information on accomplishments of nominee (i.e. years played or coached, sports played or coached, awards won, records set, leadership awards, scholastic awards, scholarships, etc.). Documentation must also be provided and may be in the form of newspaper article, yearbooks, coaches or teammates’ letters, copies of certificates, or any other proof of statement. Please limit documentation to 10-20 pages. There is also a $20 nomination fee.

Kids 4 Soccer clinics start April 26

Parent Advocates 4 Youth Sports, a 501©3 nonprofit working to better youth experience in sports in Napa and Solano counties that has offered Kids 4 Golf since 2016, will offer Kids 4 Soccer skills clinics at American Canyon High School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 26, May 26 and June 23.

The clinics will be coached and instructed by local high school and junior college coaches, including American Canyon girls head coach Travis Behn and Vanden High School head coach Dan Blankenship. Visit to register or for more information.

Tennis camp at Silverado Resort and Spa starts April 27-29

Silverado Resort and Spa will host 2 ½-day adult tennis camps on the following dates: April 27-29, June 22-24, July 20-22, and Oct. 19-21.

Participants will receive tennis instruction, combined with wine education and tastings.

The camps include a first evening round robin and three-course dinner, paired with Napa wines, half-day tennis instruction on both subsequent days, two-for-one winery tasting passes, and two nights of accommodations at the resort’s recently renovated rooms.

The camp also includes a free copy of Peter Burwash’s book, “Tennis for Life,” and complimentary court time.

Instruction is provided by Silverado’s professionals, Katie Dellich and Quinn Saine. Both Silverado pros are veterans of Peter Burwash International, a tennis management company.

St. Helena High’s ‘Fajita Fest’ athletic fundraiser May 5

St. Helena High School’s athletic booster club, the Saints Athletic Association, will hold its 14th annual “Fajita Fest” fundraiser on Saturday, May 5th, at 6 p.m. at Native Sons Hall in St. Helena. This popular hometown event features silent and live auctions with unique wine lots, gift baskets and sports memorabilia, a no-host bar, and a delicious fajita dinner from Villa Corona. All the funds raised will benefit all sports programs and athletes at St. Helena High School.
