E-Z the Appaloosa horse is so relaxed and good natured that when Ted Hall of Long Meadow Ranch was labeling a new easy-drinking wine, he thought instantly about his personal working horse. And so the winery’s Ranch House Red features E-Z on the label.

The 2007 House Red is a lot of wine for only $24. Rich red berry aromas with smoky, peppery and berry flavors. It has lots of flavor while still being deliciously fresh. The wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, sangiovese and petite sirah.

You don’t need an appointment to stop into the new tasting room on Main Street in St. Helena. You can taste wine, along with olive oil, and see a bit of the farm. This would be a fun thing to do with friends or family over the holidays. For details, visit www.longmeadowranch.com.
