NVG offers English Literacy Program for farmworkers

The Napa Valley Grapegrowers will hold a 12-week English Literacy Program for farmworkers beginning March 19.

The award-winning language training program will be taught by certified instructors through Napa Valley Adult Education with curriculum designed specifically for Napa County farmworkers to assist them with their English literacy and communication skills. This program is free and provided by the NVG Farmworker Foundation.

 “Developing an English literacy program for Napa County farmworkers has been an important goal of the NVG Farmworker Foundation, and we are thrilled to finally be able to offer such a valuable program,” said Arnulfo Solorio of Silverado Farming Company and chair of the NVG Farmworker Education Committee.

The first course is designed for farmworkers who possess some knowledge of the English language. The sessions will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 19 to June 13 at Silverado Farming Company in Napa.  

Class size is limited to 20 students, and registration will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are required to commit to attending the entire session.
