The 15th annual V Foundation Wine Celebration, designed to raise funds for cancer research, will be held from Aug. 1 through Aug. 3 in the Napa Valley.
The three-day fundraising event will include fine wine tastings, gourmet cuisine, exclusive experiences, live music entertainment and live and silent auctions. This year’s event will be hosted by legendary Duke men’s basketball coach Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski and his wife, Mickie. Bob Lloyd is chairman of the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
During the last 14 years, the V Foundation Wine Celebration has raised more than $44 million for more than 40 promising research programs at medical and research facilities throughout California. Notable facilities include the Martin-O’Neil Cancer Center at St. Helena Hospital, Napa’s Queen of the Valley Wellness Center, Stanford and UC San Francisco.
This year’s event will kick off Thursday evening with exclusive “Winery Dinners” hosted by proprietors at various vineyards.
On Friday, guests will enjoy a Bentley driving experience followed by Presidents Club & Vintner Grant Honoree Luncheon at the Napa Valley Reserve and a Riedel Wine Tasting. There will also be an “All-Stars of Research” celebration featuring renowned restaurateurs, preeminent vintners and a custom barrel auction.
Saturday will begin with a cancer research symposium hosted by members of the V Foundation’s scientific advisory board, followed by an Innovators & Icons Marketplace event with wine and fine food from local purveyors. Saturday evening, guests are invited to experience world-class auctions and a lavish dinner at Nickel & Nickel Winery, hear a motivational speech from Mike Krzyzewski and enjoy a private performance by Oscar- and Grammy-award-winning rock singer and guitarist Melissa Etheridge.
