Vic Bourassa has one of those faces that make you walk over and introduce yourself. Well, that, and he was standing behind open bottles of his wines. You get the inkling his wines are going to be something special when you hear Gary Galleron is involved.
Gary has made wine at an impressive list of places: under Mike Grgich at Chateau Montelena, at Whitehall Lane, Grace Family, and a long list of other top spots.
The Harmony3 blend ($49) is the winery’s flagship wine, a Bordeaux-style blend with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. It is not an over-extracted monster, but a beautifully balanced and delicious red with lots of flavor. Tasting the wine with Vic made it all the better — he is instantly warm and engaging. For more information on Vic, including his 1999 lunch with Robert Mondavi where Robert talked him into making fine wine, see bourassavineyards.com.
