Angwin residents Ralph M. and Charlotte F. Eaton Sherman will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 25 at a party hosted by their daughter, Gerry Wood, who also lives in Angwin. The close family celebration will include the Shermans’ four daughters, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The Shermans were married Aug. 24, 1947 in San Diego and have lived in Napa County for the past 48 years.
Ralph was a painting contractor in the Napa Valley for many years and currently helps at the Angwin Dorcas thrift shop on Tuesdays and cooks lunch for the Dorcas volunteers. According to Wood, her father “worked hard and sacrificed so that his girls could have a Christian education.”
Charlotte worked in the PUC book bindery for years and also worked at the Angwin Dorcas (thrift shop) as a leader for many years. Wood said her mother sewed all of their clothes beautifully, including three of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She also taught her daughters to “love games, family and to open their hearts and homes to everyone.”
Besides Wood, the Shermans’ daughters are Connie Lewis of Auburn, Terry Winn and Jackie Sherman, both of St. Helena.
