Bring your family together for The Annual Bale Mill Pioneer Christmas, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.
Experience a slower pace during this holiday season. Participate in the handcrafts and old-time traditions to make pomanders and rosemary wreaths, string popcorn and cranberries, decorate gingerbread cookies, try your hand at writing a Christmas letter with a quill pen, twist jute into a rope or cut paper snowflakes.
Visitors can also enjoy watching artisans demonstrate their pioneer crafts of lace making, wool spinning, and waxed egg decorating. Gather around the wood stove to enjoy hot apple cider and cookies; help decorate the mill’s Christmas tree and sing along with our musicians and carolers.
Milling demonstrations will take place throughout the day.
The Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park is located between Calistoga and St. Helena on Highway 29. Admission is $5. Children younger than 6 are free. Those needing special assistance can call 963-2236 to make arrangements.
