Erika M. Mee, born to Friedrich and Bertha Ahrens in Berlin on Oct. 17, 1922, passed away at her home in Rutherford on Jan. 31, 2014.

She followed an education for stenographer and secretary and worked as a secretary until her departure for the U.S. in 1952 to visit her uncle, who owned and operated the Handy Store in Rutherford.

In 1953, she married Elwood J. Mee, who preceded her in death in 1987. She became office manager of the Napa Valley Cooperative Winery, from which she retired in 1970. Erika is survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany as well as the U.S.

For decades she hosted many celebrations at the Mee farm on birthdays and holidays for her relatives.

We wish to express our special thanks to her caregiver, Lynna Roberts, as well as to Napa Valley Hospice. It was her late wish that no funeral services be held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
