I would like to extend a very special thank you to City Manager Mark Prestwich and City Council Member Paul Dohring for arranging the important "emergency preparedness meeting" on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the St. Helena Fire Station. St. Helena Fire Chief John Sorensen, St. Helena Police Chief Bill Imboden and City Manager Mark Prestwich each expertly addressed the recent fires in the Napa Valley. They all presented productive, concise information about "what happened" and how the situations were handled.
I especially thought that it was important to learn from the residents who attended the meeting. This was accomplished by breaking into six random groups where a record was kept by each group about concerns, ideas, solutions and general exchange of information. The last part of the two-hour meeting was devoted to a general sharing of this information.
Jesse Duarte from the St. Helena Star attended the meeting. I would recommend reading the details of the meeting in his article.
I would like to thank all of the hard-working, self-sacrificing members of our community who work so hard to keep us safe.
