The UpValley Family Centers is looking for volunteers for their tax assistance program. We provide fee tax preparation assistance to low and middle income households. We will teach you how to do taxes and you will be working along with other volunteers and staff that will show you the ropes. You will basically do intakes where you ask the tax clients a set of questions, do the tax return and eventually be able to explain the tax returns to clients.
It is a very fulfilling experience and very useful to our community.
This volunteer opportunity is a four-month commitment. The specific return preparation happens from Jan. 22 to April 17. We offer tax preparation at our St. Helena and Calistoga offices and starting this year also at the St. Helena Public Library on Thursdays.
If you are interested please call me at (707) 965-5010 or directly sign in at http://earnitkeepitsaveit.org/volunteer. Choose the New volunteer tab and sign in at Up Valley Family Center – St. Helena (this includes times for St. Helena office and the library) or Calistoga if you prefer that.
There will be an in classroom class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Jan. 10-12 at Napa Valley College in Napa. All of our current volunteers enjoy the experience but we need to increase our capacity with more interested people.
