Faces and Places March 12

Jackson Waters, left, a St. John’s Lutheran School eighth grader, participated in the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (LEST) hosted by Concordia University held February 16-18 in Portland, Oregon. More than 900 students representing 18 schools from four western states participated in academic, athletic, music, and performing arts events. SJL’s faculty chose Jackson to represent St. John’s as their “Champion of Character” representative. This award is presented to one student from each participating school who has shown exceptional character qualities of respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, integrity and servant leadership. During LEST Jackson represented SJL on the school’s swim team (first place) and the boys’ basketball team (second place). He also performed with the SJL Handbells Choir (first place). Jackson is seen with St. John’s Lutheran’s Principal Joel Wahlers.
