The husband-and-wife team of Mike and Talley Henry have purchased Acre, a small premium winery in Oakville.
Acre, founded by Dave Becker and Bob Babbe, is a producer of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel from the Napa Valley.
One Acre, Dave Becker’s single-vineyard brand, was also part of the purchase. Dave Becker will independently farm his vineyards in Oak Knoll and Yountville.
Mike Henry, whose wine industry background includes sales, sales management and most recently brand management with The Henry Wine Group, the California division of The Winebow Group, will oversee the combined Acre Wines portfolio, managing production and brand development.
Talley Henry, formerly an attorney with Nixon Peabody and the U.S. Navy, will head up the winery’s direct-to-consumer effort. Bob Babbe and Dave Becker will continue on the Acre Wines team.
Industry veteran Richard Bruno is joining Acre Wines as the consulting winemaker. Bruno's knowledge and craftsmanship have already made their mark on the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wines are available online and in selected retailers as well as fine restaurants. Vineyard visits and tastings are available by appointment only. Acre wines are distributed in 18 states, several Canadian provinces, Denmark, Hong Kong and the Republic of China.
