Purple Heart Wines, a collaboration between C. Mondavi & Family and the Purple Heart Foundation, which supports veterans in need, has donated $20,000 to support veterans impacted by the October wildfires in Northern California.
The Purple Heart Foundation will be funneling 100 percent of this donation to nine veterans and their families whose homes and possessions were completely destroyed by the wildfires that occurred in Napa and Sonoma counties.
Purple Heart Wines proprietor Marc Mondavi was joined by Purple Heart Wines winemaker and Air Force veteran John Moynier, and Bill Hutton, senior vice president of the Purple Heart Foundation, for the check presentation.
“When we learned that a number of local veterans including several Purple Heart recipients were caught up in the recent tragedy which swept through our region, we immediately reached out to our partners at the Purple Heart Foundation to try and offer some relief to these cherished members of our community,” Mondavi said.
Since the launch of the project in March 2016, Purple Heart Wines has donated $60,000 to the Purple Heart Foundation, which has been used to support U.S. military veterans and their families.
