Cadets John Salas and Peyton Souza of the RADM Richard O’Kane Division of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps completed a 14-day boot camp known as Recruit Training at Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, a U.S. Army facility located in Dublin, Calif. over the summer.
Salas and Souza received 118 hours of instruction, using a curriculum of training approved by the U.S. Navy and standardized at all training sites, with a focus on the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment.
Completing this program of training is a significant accomplishment, requiring a unique level of motivation, self-discipline and commitment to excellence.

Salas is 14 years old and a freshman at American Canyon High School. Souza is 16 years old and a junior at New Technology High School.
The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is comprised of two programs. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps program is for teens ages 13 through 17. Also offered is a junior program, the Navy League Cadet Corps, for young people ages 10 through 13.
