BERKELEY — A Northern California scientist on a late-night search for alien life instead found burglary suspects.

The Oakland Tribune reported Monday that NASA scientist Howard Isaacson was leaving his UC Berkeley lab late on Feb. 18 when he encountered two strange men roaming a secured hallway.

Isaacson works with a newly established Berkeley team tasked with searching for alien life and new planets.

Isaacson called campus police who arrested two men on suspicion of burglary. Police allegedly found UC Berkeley astronomy text books in one of the suspect’s car.
