Family Center volunteer recognition

UpValley Family Centers hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast to thank volunteers at its Calistoga site. Three people were recognized for their special contributions: Family Center founder Anne Carver for her vision and work in creating the family center 15 years ago; Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteer Ray Branstetter, who has volunteered in the VITA tax clinic each year for 10 years; and Alma Cortez, who first went to the center in 2009 as a client and has been active in the Promotora program since its inception in 2011. This year she completed an 18-month leadership training program and will be working with the Innovations Project, a countywide program focusing on mental health resource strategies to better reach underserved communities. Shown here are from left to right, UpValley Family Centers Executive Director Jenny Ocón, Vice Mayor Michael Dunsford, Anne Carver, and UVFC Program Director Indira López.
