Two replacement pumps will be purchased for the wastewater treatment plant, the council decided on Tuesday.
The Dunaweal Wastewater Treatment Plant needs to purchase a 4-inch and 6-inch pump to replace ones that failed. The old 4-inch pump was almost 20 years old when it failed several years ago. It is used to transfer wastewater during moderate flow conditions from one holding pond to another.
The 6-inch pump is used to transfer wastewater through an aeration basin during heavy rain events. The pumps are also used to bypass sections of sewer mains and manholes during repair operations. The existing 6-inch pump, almost 20 years old, will be kept as a backup during emergency situations.
The cost of the pumps is about $80,000.
