Women Stand Up – St. Helena, a grassroots group formed after the 2017 Women’s March, is partnering with Soroptimist International Calistoga to sponsor an event called “Women’s Summit Napa Valley.” It will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena. Our goal is to engage, educate and encourage women to find confidence in their voices and to take action steps to address issues locally and nationally.
This all-day event begins with our morning keynote speaker Representative Jackie Speier, who has been a voice in Congress for women’s rights, health care, and addressing issues of immigration and gun violence. Diane Dillon, our Napa County supervisor, will share with us how to effectively advocate for those issues close to our heart.
Delaine Eastin, former Superintendent of Public Schools in California, will address empowering women through education. Lauren Gunderson’s one-woman play “Natural Shocks” demonstrates activism through art. The St. Helena High School group Students for Change will also be participating in the event.
Representatives from Soroptimist, League of Women Voters, Mom’s Demand Action, Napa Valley College and others will host booths and provide additional action steps to ensure that all voices are heard. Lunch is provided by Oak Avenue Catering. This will be a sold-out event. Tickets will go on sale June 20 and can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.
