Home & Ranch Readiness Summit will be held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds May 17-19, 2018.

A free home and ranch readiness summit will be held in May and conclude with a benefit event to Honor the Heroes, the first responders of the region.

The summit, hosted by the HALTER project (Horse and Livestock Team Emergency Response), will be held May 17 through 19 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa.

On Thursday, May 17, the program focuses on First Responders providing an introduction to animal technical rescue, large animal rescue equipment displays and demos, and a training on how to care for a working dog in disasters and in the field provided by Dr. Guillaume Horeau.

The second day is Community Partners Day with training on animal technical rescue and Fire Service Training and Education Program, along with training on animal rescue equipment, trailers and demonstrations. Dr. Beck McConnico from the Louisiana State Animal Response Team will discuss challenges and best practices in developing volunteer capability.

Saturday, May 19, is Home and Ranch Readiness Day with workshops on how to be a better helper with information on volunteering. A “Ready-Kit Alley” will have products to purchase, demonstrations of animal rescue teams, working dogs in action, UC Davis veterinary emergency response team and Sonoma Valley Animal Emergency Response Team, how to communicate while out on a trail or at a ranch, rescuing and reuniting cats with their people, and more.

That evening the HALTER project will “Honor the Heroes” with Community Preparedness Awards. They will recognize individuals, agencies and businesses whose actions inspire preparedness in their communities. It will start at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour until 7:30 p.m.; dinner and program are from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Attire is country cocktail. It is a ticketed event with suggested donations of $100 for individuals, hosted tables of 10 for $1,500 that includes the host name or business on the table, collateral and in the program.

Sponsorships are available with a deadline of April 30. The Honoree Award Sponsors is $2,500.00 and includes a table of 10, logo on all collateral, multimedia screen, backdrop, and media advertising. Presenting Sponsor is $5,000 and includes table of 10 (more guests welcome upon request), logo on program cover, entry signage, all collateral, ads, and media.
