Harley is one of our special needs kittens looking for his forever home and his foster mom is a teacher. She shared this photo of him and a sweet note about the lessons animals can teach us.
“Today I projected this image on my whiteboard and left it there all day. At the end of the day, we used it as a talking piece about being yourself and accepting others as they are. Honestly, if I was allowed to keep a cat in my classroom, I’d keep Harley and bring him to work every day. He’s an excellent mascot and I think my 6th graders could learn a lot from him about how to be comfortable in your own skin.”
Harley’s special need is a human caregiver who will keep him indoors and be willing to sometimes give him eye drops if his vision changes as he ages. He was born with one ‘micro-eye’ which is smaller and sometimes can get irritated. Even though his vision isn’t perfect, he is very capable of navigating his environment and has so much love for everyone in his life — be it cat, dog or human.
