1956-2017Ursula Christine (Carbone) Meade, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly on October 15th in her Pope Valley home at the age of 61.

She was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 7th, 1956. Ursula grew up in a large, loving family to Stephen Louis Carbone and Ursula (Gately) Carbone. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1974 and attended New England Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston, graduating in 1977. Ursula made many friendships in nursing school that lasted until this day. Shortly after graduation, Ursula and her sister Liz visited their brother Stephen, in the Napa Valley. While visiting, Ursula met her future husband, Patrick Meade, and canceled her return flight home. Patrick and Ursula married in 1979 and began their life together in Pope Valley.

During her 40-year nursing career, Ursula was a compassionate and dedicated caregiver whose patients truly loved and appreciated the care she provided. She worked in many areas of nursing over the years at both the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa and St. Helena Hospital. She had a passion for cardiac rehab was most recently working as a Cardiac Rehab Lead Nurse.

In addition to the time she devoted to raising her two beloved sons, Ursula was an active board member for the Pope Valley Scholarship Fund and she enjoyed volunteering with Pat at the Pope Valley Fire Dept Dinners and Dances. Ursula kept in touch with all her siblings and visited her East Coast family often and recently attended the 62nd Carbone family reunion in July.

Ursula was overjoyed at the arrival of her two grandchildren born just days before her death and the last week of her life was one of her happiest.

Ursula is survived by her husband of 38 years, Pat Meade; son Dan, daughter-in-law Reis, and granddaughter Daniella of Santa Rosa CA; son Chris, daughter-in-law Gina, and grandson, Lucas of Napa CA; mother-in-law, Bea Meade of Lafayette CA; her brother, Stephen Carbone of Middletown CA; sisters Elizabeth Carbone, Mary Beth Curran and Ann Cirillo all of MA; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Arleen Carbone of MA; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jeff Beattie of VT, and sister-in-law and her husband Cathy and Edward Fitzgerald of Martinez CA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her baby brother, Paul, and her father-in-law, Ray Meade. Ursula will be remembered by her family and many dear friends for her extremely caring and self-sacrificing personality.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at the Pope Valley Farm Center, 5800 Pope Valley Road, Pope Valley, on Saturday, December 9th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. A local charity fund will be setup in Ursula’s name, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory. More information to follow at the celebration of life.
