St. Helena's Robert Louis Stevenson Museum unveils 'Painted Pirates' mural

  • Updated

Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, in partnership with Nimbus Arts, recently unveiled “Painted Pirates,” a mural inspired by Stevenson’s classic novel “Treasure Island.”

The mural was created by students participating in Nimbus Arts’ summer art program. Students learned about Stevenson and “Treasure Island” through a visit to the RLS Museum. They then continued their art education through other fantastic pirate art projects during the camp’s Robert Louis Stevenson week.

The mural was created with funding from the city of St. Helena’s 2018-2019 grant program. It’s mounted outside the museum, next to the St. Helena Public Library.
