St. Helena's RLS Middle School celebrates new water bottle filling station

RLS ribbon cutting

RLS Middle School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday for its new water bottle filling station, which was installed after months of lobbying by students and a donation by V. Sattui Winery.

Shown here, having a laugh after the giant scissors failed to cut the ribbon on the first try, are (from left) Sattui President Tom Davies, students Liesl Wolfe-Heinemann and Joe Brawdy, and Sattui Vice President John Winkelhaus.

Sattui contributed $3,000, and the school district paid the remainder of the $6,800 cost. Wolfe-Heinemann, Brawdy and Daphne Steele, who couldn’t attend Thursday’s ceremony, lobbied for the filling station while they were active with the RLS Associated Student Body. They are now attending St. Helena High School.
