The city of St. Helena has released a new draft of the long-awaited General Plan update and its accompanying Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

The documents were posted Tuesday at cityofsthelena.org/planning/page/2040-general-plan-update.

Printed copies of the 400-page General Plan and the 620-page draft EIR are available at City Hall and the St. Helena Public Library. Digital copies and a limited number of paper copies are available by contacting nhoush@cityofsthelena.org or calling 968-2659.

The city is inviting public comments on the documents through Jan. 2. The 72-day comment period exceeds the mandatory minimum of 45 days.

Written comments can be sent to Noah Housh, Planning Director, City of St. Helena, 1480 Main St., St. Helena, CA 94574, or by email to nhoush@cityofsthelena.org.

The St. Helena Planning Commission will hear oral comments at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Vintage Hall.

Once the city has collected the comments and responded to them, the General Plan and final EIR will be submitted to the Planning Commission and City Council for public hearings. The council’s final decision is tentatively scheduled for late winter/early spring 2019.
