Harvest Festival Fun Run

About 100 kids, and many adults, ran the 1K Fun Run that was part of the St. Helena Harvest Festival, which was held in October 2015.

Nearly 300 registered runners participated in the 2015 Harvest Festival 5K Run and 1K Fun Run, which was held Oct. 17.

Proceeds from both runs, $11,200, were donated to the UpValley Family Centers for their Valley Fire relief efforts. Sarah Gott and Krisi Raymond organized the run, with help of parents and volunteers from the St. Helena Montessori School, and instead of providing T-shirts for the runners, those funds, too, went to Valley Fire victims.

“We ended up having 297 registered runners, which is more than double than last year, which was very good,” Gott said. The St. Helena High School Cross Country team participated and Jesus Blanco won first place overall, with a time of 18:29. The first female finisher, in 11th place, was Brenda Blinn, with a time of 22:22. She also won her age (40-49) division.

Gott said Raymond was in charge of the registration. On the day of the run, they had a lot of volunteers from the school helping out.

“We had a great time,” she said. “There was a family from Italy and a family from Vancouver, which included a man who won his age group. St. Helena’s Sportago gave gift certificates to each age group winner.”

Gott said the start and finish of both runs was moved back to its original location at the corner of Adams Street and Oak Avenue, which helped pull in runners.
