Library book sale

The Friends of American Canyon Library will host a 3-day book sale, May 17-19, at the library, 300 Crawford Way in American Canyon.

There will be a wide variety of books, including paperbacks, tradebacks and hardcovers, as well as DVDs and children’s books.

Sale hours are Thursday, May 17 from 12-7 p.m. (members only from noon to 2 p.m.); Friday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Friends of the American Canyon Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization that raises money to support the library and its programs, like the Summer Reading Program, Crafternoons, movies, and Lego Robotics.

Soroptimist announces new scholarship

Soroptimist International of Napa has a new scholarship for graduating senior girls called the “The Future is You!”

The Future is You! is a $1,000 scholarship being awarded to a Napa Valley Unified School District graduating senior girl. All graduating senior girls are eligible for this scholarship but particular consideration will be given to: young women who are first-generation college goers in their families who have persisted in the face of obstacles, and who intend to enter career paths that will enable them to give back to their communities.

Completed applications and supporting materials are due May 18 to Soroptimist member, Sarah Williams, Ed.D. NVUSD Director – Assessment and Intervention.

Applications are being distributed through the school district or email for an application.

Retired teachers luncheon

The California Retired Teachers Association Napa Valley has issued a cordial invitation to all retired teachers, including Napa Valley College and private school teacher retirees to join their lunch meetings on the third Tuesday every other month during the school year at the Elk’s Lodge located at 2840 Soscol Ave. in Napa.
