American Canyon High junior Justin Chang and freshman Riley Carlos ran solid races at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section meet Friday at Willow Hill in Folsom.

Chang needed to finish among the top five individuals not on the three qualifying teams, and in the top 14 overall, to advanced to the Nov. 25 state meet at Woodward Park in Fresno. He placed 29th out of 77 runners in the Division III varsity boys race in 17:45.2.

In the Division III freshman boys race, where runners can’t move on to the state meet, Carlos needed to be one of the top eight individuals not on the two qualifying teams to earn an award. He finished 20th out of 42 runners in 13:50.7.

Wolves earn All-SCAC football honors

American Canyon’s LaVar Seay is the Offensive Player of the Year, Lucas Gramlick is the Lineman of the Year, and Kama Aalona is the Back of the Year on the All-Solano County Athletic Conference football team.

The Wolves’ Hunter Snyder joins Gramlick on the first-team offensive line, Seay is the first-team quarterback, Aalona is a first-team running back, and Robbin Brown is a first-team wide receiver.

On defense, American Canyon’s Brenden Johnson is a first-team defensive back and Adrian Anicete is at linebacker.

Second-team All-SCAC were Erick Stewart and Darius Thomas at defensive back, Alec Hoover at linebacker, and Eddie Byrdsong at running back.

Receiving honorable mention were Alfredo Calderon and Kekoa Wilson at linebacker, Derrick Conner on the defensive line, Jacob Mitchell and Shawn Sto Domingo on the offensive line, and Jose Luis B. Lopez at kicker.
