In honor of St. Valentine's Day, the White Barn in St. Helena presents a matinee program of romantic music, featuring Jeffrey McFarland-Johnson, violoncello, and Terry Winn, pianist, of the Napa Valley Duo, on Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. Performing with the Napa Valley Duo are vocalists Katie Hopgood and Cynthia Ermshar.
The program includes works by Puccini, Faure, Offenbach and Gershwin.
Winn studied piano with Dave Brubeck’s mother. McFarland-Johnson studied cello in Helsinki at the Sibelius Academy with Arto Noras, the 1966 Tchaikovsky Competition winner. Katie Hopgood enjoys a variety of genre: operatic and sacred, and she is a featured vocalist with the rock band The Fabulous Screwtops. Ermshar graduated from Columbia Union College and performs sacred and opera arias.
