Nadya and Genji Schmeder will celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2. The couple met and were married in New York City in 1967. They moved to California around 1971, and have lived in Napa since 1986.
Nadya is retired from teaching and occupational therapy with Napa County Office of Education. Genji is retired from computer programming with University of California, Berkeley. They have a daughter, now a citizen of Australia, and a son, who is a resident in Napa. They also have three grandchildren.
Nadya is active with Congregation Beth Shalom. She plays fiddle and banjo with the Pickle Creek String Band. Genji enjoys hiking and independent foreign travel, and he studies German and Spanish languages.
Nadya and Genji are spending the weeks around their anniversary visiting the beautiful cities of Amsterdam and Copenhagen in Europe.
