Ellen Brunswick of St. Helena and Joshua Hotai of Alameda are happy to announce their engagement to be married on Sept. 10, 2011, in Napa. The couple met on eHarmony on June 30, 2010, and became engaged Dec. 30, 2010.
Ellen, daughter of Ron and Esther Brunswick of St. Helena, graduated St. Helena High School in 1999. She went on to attend Simpson College, graduating in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, and Napa Valley College, graduating in 2008 with a child and family studies certificate. Ellen sings with the worship group and teaches Sunday school at Calvary Christian Church. She loves to throw shiny pennies and treasures into the playground for the kids to find. Ellen works as a preschool teacher at First Christian School in Napa.
Joshua, son of Kazumi and Hiromi Hotai of Aberdeen, Wash., attended Redondo Union High, graduating in 2002. He is currently attending Excelsior College, majoring in criminal justice. He attends Calvary Christian Church every Sunday and does volunteer work with preschool children at First Christian School once a week. He taught origami to the children and regularly pulls a Red Flyer wagon laden with six kids across the playground as a workout. Joshua works as an electronics technician first class in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed on Coast Guard Island in Alameda.
