Cadet Graham Gongora of the RADM Richard O’Kane Division recently completed a seven-day Navy League Cadet Corps Basic Orientation aboard the USS Hornet in Alameda.
The Navy League Cadet Corps introduces boys and girls ages 11-13 to Naval life through instruction in basic seamanship and leadership. The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps program is for teens ages 13 through 18.
Gongora is 12 years old and will begin eighth grade at Harvest Middle School this fall. He is the son of Ben and Abigail Gongora of Napa.
This program is designed to provide League Cadets exposure to military life and teaches cadets self-reliance, discipline, Navy core values, Naval heritage and history, chain of command, military courtesy, officer and cadet ranks and more.
For his exemplary performance and conduct during this training program, Cadet Gongora earned the distinct recognition of being nominated as an "Honor Cadet."
