Bowman-Davis and Hyde named National Merit Semifinalists
Two Justin-Siena students, Jordan Bowman-Davis ’19 and Mary Catherine Hyde ’19 have earned prestigious recognition for their academic achievements as National Merit Semifinalists, the only two students honored as such in Napa County this year.
They are now qualified to apply to compete to become Finalists who subsequently compete for 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards. Semifinalists must fulfill several academic requirements in order to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
Over 1.6 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the October 2017 PSAT/NMSQT which served as an initial screening of program entrants. This year, Jordan and Mary Catherine represent two of the 16,000 Semifinalists (the top 1 percent of PSAT/NMSQT test-taking juniors) nationwide.
In the last five graduated classes (2014-2018), Justin-Siena had six National Merit Finalists, one Semi-Finalist, and 19 Commended Scholars, as well as two National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars.
