Donald F. Macdonald Born in Kansas City, Missouri, July 10, 1933, to Neville and Donald Keith Macdonald. Don was a wonderful husband, father and friend to many, and he will be truly missed.

Don grew up in Missouri and Texas. He graduated from New Braunfels High School, class of 1951.

He was recruited to tryout as a pitcher for the New York Yankees.

He was offered athletic scholarships to many schools and chose to attend University of Illinois. Although he was offered a four-sport scholarship, he chose to participate in football and tennis for the Illini. He was on the 1952 Rose Bowl Championship team, and was the Big Ten title holder in tennis.

After college, he enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War. When he returned, he made his career in the printing and paper business. He was a 32nd-degree Mason. He was the scoutmaster of Goshen’s Scout Troop for many years. He served on the St. James Episcopal Church vestry in many capacities and as senior warden. He was deeply involved in Goshen Swim Club (now Goshen Swim Inc.) for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, N. Jean Macdonald (St. Helena, CA); a son, Donald Macdonald Jr. (Jennifer) of Chicago, Illinois; a daughter, E. Kate M. Smith (Ted) of San Francisco, California; three grandchildren, Rachel Macdonald of Barrington, Illinois, Thomas and Griffin Smith of San Francisco, California; a sister, Patricia Rudolph of Midwest City, Oklahoma; nieces, Suzanne and Scott Holmgren Family of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dana and Dwayne McEntire Family of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Fred A. Cook Family of Westerville, Ohio.
