Raymond Allen Thomas
Raymond A. Thomas, age 58, passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, at his home in Napa on January 25, 2015. Raymond was born in Napa to Raymond Allen Thomas and Helen Gillihan Thomas.
Raymond attended local elementary schools and graduated from Vintage High School in 1974. His class of students were the first to attend all 3 grades in the newly built Vintage High School. As a teenager, he pumped gas and worked at both the Uptown Theater and KVON Drive–In. Raymond spent most of his working career in the electrical wholesale business having worked at Electric Supply, Norcal Electric, Napa Electric, and most recently, CED.
Raymond loved anything to do with cars from model building to collecting miniatures, but best of all, working on the restoration of his prized 1970 Boss 302! He loved animals and always had a cat and until recently, a dog, too. He also loved science fiction, airplanes, Karate, music, football, baseball, and had a wicked sense of humor. Among many other things, Raymond enjoyed having breakfast at Downtown Joe’s, his mother’s delicious cioppino and Thanksgiving Day at the beach with family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his mother, Helen Gillihan Swatts, sister Janeen Lotton, former wife, Karen Purdum, step-siblings, Lynette (Mosley) Tiner, Michael Mosley, Pamela Mosley, Valerie (Mosley) Exum, Frank Mosley, and step-mother, Judy Thomas. Raymond was the uncle and great-uncle to several generations of nieces and nephews.
His father, Raymond “Ray” Thomas and his brother, Richard Thomas, predeceased Raymond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Treadway & Wigger in Napa with internment of Raymond’s ashes at St. Helena Cemetery next to his father and grandfather.
A remembrance service will take place at Treadway & Wigger, 623 Coombs St., (across from the Napa Library) on February 12, 2015 at 2 p.m.. The family would love it if you have a story to share.
