Wine students at Walla Walla Community College or Yakima Valley Community College in Washington can transfer to several ag degree programs at Washington State University.
Students who begin at YVCC or WWCC and transfer to WSU in the next several years will be some of the first to experience their education at the WSU Wine Science Center. Research and teaching at the center will be specific to the challenges and opportunities faced by grapegrowers and winemakers in the Pacific Northwest. When the center opens in early 2015, it claims that it will be the most technologically advanced wine research and education center in the world.
By contrast, viticulture and winery technology degree programs at Napa Valley College provide the technical training needed for direct entry into wine industry employment and are not designed as transfer programs.
Many general education classes like science, math and literature can be transferred.
Wine Country Event and Hospitality Show
The Wine Country Event and Hospitality Trade Show organized by the Concierge Alliance of Napa Valley and Sonoma (CANVAS) will be held July 15 at Hall Winery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The day includes three site visits by luxury buses to properties staged with creative ideas, then lunch at Hall Winery.
The lunch will include appetizers in the 1885 Bergfeld building, a seated lunch showcasing two wine country chefs with winemakers or winery owners hosting tables and a dessert extravaganza with more than 10 dessert purveyors and sparkling wines.
The exhibit hall will feature a variety of live music, food, wine, rental showcases and more.
