Sugar Easter Eggs

A collection of peep through sugar Easter eggs.

Easter Eggs: Use 3 teaspoons water and 1 cup sugar. This amount makes about 5 small (hen egg sized) molds. To make 2 large molds, use l 1/4 cups sugar and 3 1/4 teaspoons water.

Mix well in a bowl. Press sugar mixture firmly into molds. Unmold onto cardboard and make hole on one end, or middle, with a toothpick—a small amount at a time. Allow molded sugar mixture to dry before decorating.

Decorate inside scene. (When finished with the inside scene) put frosting around edge of bottom half of egg and place top and bottom together. Put frosting trim around the seam. Decorate with frosting flowers and/or piping.

Spray with liquid glue and sprinkle with diamond dust.

2 egg whites

2 cups sifted powdered sugar

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Mix in bowl until thoroughly blended. To prevent the frosting from drying out, place damp towel over the bowl. Divide frosting for different colors saving most of it as white.
