An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday after he allegedly failed to stop at about 1 a.m. for an equipment violation near Carmel and Pinewood drives, police said. After a short pursuit, the vehicle was located abandoned at Bel Aire Plaza, police said.
The suspect, Jason Salzsiedler, was located later when he returned home in the 1700 block of Sierra Avenue, police said. Salzsiedler, who showed signs of being under the influence, allegedly resisted arrest, police said. He was Tased and placed into a restraint system, police said. Salzsiedler allegedly had the key of the vehicle abandoned at Bel Aire Plaza in his pants pocket, authorities said.
Salzsiedler was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he allegedly tried to assault nurses, according to police. He was then medically cleared and taken to the Napa County Jail, police said.
Salzsiedler was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, evading a peace officer while driving, driving on a suspended license, resisting arrest, assault on medical staff, and three counts of probation violation.
