A crash along Silverado Trail, south of Highway 128, caused a headache for motorists traveling in that area Friday afternoon and an even bigger one for the limousine driver involved in the wreck. The California Highway Patrol said alcohol was a factor in the accident.
The CHP said Sandeep Kumar, 25, of Vallejo, drove a 2003 Lincoln Town Car along the highway when he lost control of the car and went onto the shoulder of the road at 2:20 p.m.
“He was going south on Silverado Trail, traveling at an unsafe speed for the wet roadway conditions,” CHP Officer Jaret Paulson said. “He goes onto the shoulder, flipped over and came back on the roadway landing on his roof.”
The wreck caused traffic to back up for about 45 minutes as CHP officers investigated the accident and cleared up the roadway. Officers determined that Kumar was driving under the influence at the time of the accident and placed him under arrest on suspicion of DUI. Paulson said Kumar was working as a limo driver when he wrecked the vehicle but had no customers inside at the time. No injuries were reported.
