CHP: Black bear involved in wreck along Highway 29 in northern Napa County

A wreck involving a Mercedes sedan and a black bear was reported in northern Napa County, south of the Lake County line, on Tuesday, July 10, according to California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle, which collided with the bear in the area of Highway 29 near Rattlesnake Spring at about 1:30 p.m., sustained moderate front end damage and was towed from the scene, officials said. The driver was not injured.

The bear walked away from the scene shortly after the collision and was later seen off the roadway in the trees, the CHP said.

Collisions like this are not common in the area, officials said.
