Doris Gentry named Napa vice mayor

Doris Gentry, entering her fourth year on the Napa City Council, will serve as vice mayor in 2020.

Gentry's council peers on Tuesday voted her to a one-year term for the position, succeeding Scott Sedgley in the annual selection process. As vice mayor, Gentry will lead council meetings when longtime Mayor Jill Techel is absent.

Both Gentry and Sedgley have announced candidacies for the 2020 mayoral election to replace Techel, who will retire after four terms as mayor and more than two decades on the Napa council.
