Green Island Road north of American Canyon has been shut down after a toppled power line blocked the roadway, the Napa County Sheriff's Office reported in a Nixle alert at 11:20 a.m. Sunday.

The closure is between Paoli Loop Road and Commerce Boulevard west of Highway 29. Power was lost at 84 homes and businesses after a vehicle struck a utility pole at 10:40 a.m., according to PG&E spokesperson Karli Hernandez.

PG&E was notified of the downed line, but there was no immediate estimate when Green Island Road would reopen, according to the Sheriff's Office said.

PG&E said in a Nixle alert that repairs were expected to be done by midnight.

Twenty-two PG&E customers remained without service as of 1 p.m.
