A 40-year-old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle struck the vehicle in front of him at a red light in American Canyon early Thursday, according to American Canyon Police.

Police said Casey N. Higgins was driving a Mercedes southbound on Highway 29 toward American Canyon Road when it hit an SUV stopped in front of him for a red light. The SUV was forced into the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of another vehicle headed westbound on American Canyon Road, police said. Several people sustained minor injuries, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene at 12:43 a.m. and arrested Higgins on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury. Higgins was booked at the Napa County jail where he is being held on $100,000 bail.
