St. Helena firefighters put out a fire that fully engulfed and destroyed a minivan in St. Helena on Wednesday morning, according to St. Helena Police.

The driver of the vehicle and two coworkers got into the vehicle at Spring Street and Valley View Street and noticed it smoking, said Lt. Chris Hartley. They drove about 10 feet, then exited the Chrysler Town & Country just before it caught fire at 11:38 a.m.

By the time firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed, Hartley said.

The vehicle was destroyed, but no one was injured and the fire did not spread. Hartley said that the cause of the fire was a gas leak.
